A leading aerospace organisation is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to join its team specialising in advanced fuel systems, air-to-air refuelling technologies, launch systems, and defensive aid sub-systems. With over 80 years of industry experience, the company is recognised globally for its innovation and technical excellence in aerospace solutions.
Role Purpose
Act as the voice of the Customer to ensure agreed requirements are met
Drive up standards and foster a “right first time” culture
Provide preventive, corrective action and containment activities
Assure delivery of conforming product to the end Customer
Act as Quality focal within Integrated Product Team delivering Quality solutions
Responsible for Quality Management System compliance and improvement
Key Responsibilities
Provide Quality input into new bids and contract reviews
Generate and implement Quality plans to meet Customer requirements
Lead investigations into product and process non-conformances, including root cause analysis and concession management
Manage and host Customer audits and source inspection activities
Own the management of Quality escapes and Customer investigations
Ensure QMS compliance throughout the Product Lifecycle
Complete First Article Inspections (AS9102) and support new product introduction
Manage NCR and FRACA processes
Facilitate MRB activities
Generate and track Quality metrics to meet set targets
Identify and implement Quality improvement initiatives
Support inspection processes and final product sign-off prior to despatch
Comply with site Safety, Health & Environment policies and legal duties
Qualifications
HND/HNC in Engineering or equivalent experience
Skills & Experience
Strong working knowledge of aerospace Quality Standards: AS9100, AS9110, Part 21 (G), Part 145, DAOS
Familiarity with AS9145, APQP, PPAP, FAIR, PFMEA, MSA, Control Plans
Understanding of FAA Compliance and ESA CAA
Experience with structured problem-solving techniques: 8D, RCCA, 5-Why
Proactive and preventive Quality techniques implementation
Proven background in Quality Assurance and use of Quality tools
QMS implementation and auditing to recognised aerospace standards
Ability to interpret and flow down Customer Quality requirements
Strong root cause analysis and corrective action capabilities
Core competency in one or more of the following: Software, Mechanical, Electrical, Metrology, Systems, Composites
